Frequently Asked Questions

How often are prices updated?

Each retailer is scraped on its own schedule — several times a week. Prices you see on RamList are at most a few hours stale. If you spot a listing whose price has clearly drifted, use the "Report an Issue" form on the product's detail page and it'll be re-checked sooner.

Why does the same module appear at different prices on different retailers?

Retailers price the same SKU independently. We track every listing for a module across every retailer we crawl, so the "Buy" button always points to the cheapest qualifying vendor at the moment you load the page.

Why isn't [Vendor X] in the list?

We crawl some of the top online retailers. Adding a new vendor requires either an official affiliate API or a stable scraper, plus a US-based affiliate program. If a vendor you care about is missing, mention it on the Contact page.

What does "Price / GB" mean?

It's the best per-gigabyte cost of the module — total kit price divided by total capacity. A 32GB kit at $128 has a Price/GB of $4.00. This makes a fair apples-to-apples comparison between, say, a 16GB single stick and a 64GB kit.

Why are some specs marked "—" or missing?

Retailer feeds don't always provide every spec. When we can't reliably extract a value (CAS latency, form factor, ECC, etc.) we leave it blank rather than guess. A background AI pass fills in additional metadata when our pattern-matching can't parse the title — but if there's nothing to work from, the field stays blank.

How do you know two listings are the same product?

We collapse listings that share a manufacturer part number (MPN). When a listing doesn't include the MPN in its feed, we try to extract one from the title and match against MPNs we already have. False merges are rare but possible — tell us if you see one.

What's the Community section?

The Community page is for deals outside the four major retailers — Facebook Marketplace, Reddit, regional shops, eBay one-offs that didn't get auto-indexed. Anyone can submit; the submitter confirms via email before the listing goes live.

How is RamList monetized?

Affiliate commissions on "Buy" button clicks that convert to purchases. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the details.
